No, I don't think they're controversial. If you go to the website, you'll actually see that a lot of the people had no preference and that a lot also preferred Big Macs. They show each taste test and, if you look at it from this perspective, only about 1/3 to 1/4 of the people liked the Whopper. Most didn't like them and didn't even know how they should eat the food. They tried to take it apart and I'm sure that doesn't make for accurate results. Also, I think there are other things that people in other cultures eat that they will like much more than hamburger meat, as the Iceland natives said they preferred seal meat. I bet. I'm not surprised that a lot of the respondents said they had no preference.

While it seems like a good idea to take people who have never even had hamburgers before and ask them which of the two they like, they might not even like hamburgers at all. After all, the McDonald's in other countries do tailor their menus to native tastes (i.e. salmon burgers in Scandinavian locations). So, it looks like it was a great time for the people who got to film and an uncomfortable time for the native folk. You should check out the website to see for yourself.

There’s a funny blog on freedomhaters.org on the Whopper Virgins commercial.

It ties it into Noam Chomsky and how the indigenous people on the commercials will most likely be forced to move to big cities when the fast food chains move in, and have to work for Burger King for a tenth of what American’s make.

Check it out here:

http://freedomhaters.org/content/what-would-noa...

I never had a good impression about the US (nu offense) but this campaign of yours is extremely annoying. You people have no idea what this world, what life is all about. Every belief that you have is based on other peoples ideas or ideology, even worse, strategic market plans. I'm not blaming you, it's like, you don't have much choice, to think for yourselves, its no wonder you guys master the market (sort of), nevertheless it is now collapsing because of you. But I couldn't leave myself out of this one. It's like, "Look at these pure people (virgins) how impressed they are with our product". Now you probably want to eat more burgers at the king. This is one of the reasons I hate to live in the big city. This food sucks!!! BAD! Good luck with your campaign. I'm sure though you all will brighten up sooner or later and realize how much shit you've been eating these years, more or less literally, or at least I hope you will.

Being a lifelong skateboarder, I’ve watched Stacy Peralta’s films since Animal Chin, through to his latest about gangs in LA. This Whopper thing isn’t comedy. This project thinks it’s being profound and sincere and “nice”. It made me sad on many levels. Frankly I’m done watching anything Mr. Peralta does. Hope the paycheck was big.
